What is Blue light?
Blue light is defined as light within the wavelength range of 400-480 nm, because over 88% of the risk of photo-oxidative damage to the retina from fluorescent lamps (cool whie or “broad spectrum”) is due to light wavelengths in the range of 400-480 nm. The blue light hazard peaks at 440 nm, and falls to 80% of peak at 460 그리고 415 nm. Incontrast, green light of 500 nm is only one-tenth as hazardous to the retina than blue light with a wavelength of 440 nm.
What does Blue light therapy do for body?
Blue light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light, ranging from 400 에게 500 nanometers on the electromagnetic scale. This treats a variety of skin conditions with a light therapy device that emits what we perceive as the color blue.
Certain cells in the body are highly sensitive to blue light. These include some strains of bacteria, including acne-causing bacteria and cancer cells.
Blue light wavelengths are very short, so they don’t absorb very far into the skin and for this reason are very useful for treating acne, inflammation, and a variety of skin conditions.
It also has a number of synergistic benefits when used with red light therapy.

Blue light therapy is one area of light therapy that is quickly gaining recognition for some of its amazing benefits especially when used in conjunction with red and NIR light therapy.
- Repair sun damage and help treat precancerous lesions
Blue light used with a photosensitizing agent has been found effective in treating actinic keratoses or precancerous lesions caused by sun damage. Treating an individual actinic keratosis lesion can prevent skin cancer. This effective treatment only targets diseased cells with minimal effect on surrounding tissue.
- Mild to moderate acne
Blue light treatment has come to the forefront in skincare as an effective treatment of mild to moderate acne. Propionibacterium acnes, the acne-causing bacteria, emits a photosensitizer which makes the bacteria exceptionally sensitive to light and vulnerable to damage by specific wavelengths.
- Anti-aging and skin wounds
Good circulation is vital for skin health and skin wound healing. Blue light stimulates the release of nitric oxide(NO), a vasodilator which increases circulation to deliver oxygen, immune cells, and nutrients to the tratment area. Along with the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of blue light, this effect can result in faster wound healing and better skin health.
